ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry on Wednesday sent a report to the interim Prime Minister’s (PM) office pertaining to permitting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s friend Zulfi Bukhari to travel abroad.
As per the report, the ministry over recommendations of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) included Bokhari’s name to the Blacklist category that barrs individuals from leaving abroad.
According to the ministry’s sources the report states that the persons on Blacklist are not given one-time permission (OTP) to travel abroad. For OTP the ministry would require recommendations from the concerned institutions.
Sources added that Bokhari’s name was placed on the blacklist and the ministry sought no opinion from the NAB before allowing him to travel abroad.
NAB had expressed serious concern over this, condemning that the ministry had not approached the bureau to discuss the matter.
Earlier, interim PM had summoned a report regarding permission being granted to Bokhari.
Caretaker PM took notice as the Interior Ministry issued OTP to Bokhari for performing Umrah despite his name being on the B category list.
Earlier on Monday, Khan’s friend Bokhari was stopped from flying to Saudi Arabia along with PTI chief, however they later on departed for Saudi via a charter flight from Nur Khan airbase.
