PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Iqbal Zafar Jaghra hosted a celebratory lunch for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) second edition champions Peshawar Zalmi at Governor House on Sunday.
Congratulating the team, Iqbal Zafar Jaghra said that Peshawar Zalmi did not just make Peshawar proud, they made the entire country proud as well.
The governor expressed hope that all of PSL would be held in Pakistan next year.
Speaking at the occasion, Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi thanked the nation for supporting the team and termed the overseas players who came to Lahore to play the final ‘heroes’.
“The foreign players who played the PSL final in Lahore, they are our heroes,” Afridi said, adding that it was quite a bit of a challenge to bring Darren Sammy to Pakistan.
Governor Iqbal Jaghra presented the PSL champions with a trophy. Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators by 58 runs in a historical final at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on March 5 to clinch the PSL second edition trophy.
