KARACHI: Citing the high wave and strong winds, metropolis’ mayor Waseem Akhtar on Sunday imposed one day ban on the swimming at Karachi beaches.
The ban has been imposed under section 144.
The Karachi mayor advised being cautious while visiting the beach these days. He further added, “Special care of children should be taken when visiting the beaches.”
Akhtar has also ordered Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) lifeguards to be alert.
The ban is notably imposed during the monsoon season which brings rougher seas with it.
Beaches of the metropolis are popular with its population of roughly 25 million people and many of whom suffer from power outages and water shortages in the sweltering summers.
