ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday adjourned hearing of a disqualification petition against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in foreign funding case until August 21. A five-member ECP bench, headed by Chief Electioneer Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan, resumed the hearing. The CEC said the hearing of a disqualification petition against Imran Khan at the Supreme Court (SC) would affect proceedings of a separate but similar case at the ECP. The petitions seeking the disqualification of Imran Khan and PTI leader Jahangir Tareen over the non-disclosure of assets, their ownership of offshore companies and for collecting party funds through “prohibited sources” are currently being heard in both the SC and the ECP. The SC is hearing a plea filed by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi seeking disqualification of Imran Khan and PTI General Secretary Jehangir Tareen, over “non-disclosure of assets.
