ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday adjourned hearing of a disqualification petition against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in foreign funding case until August 21. A five-member ECP bench, headed by Chief Electioneer Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan, resumed the hearing. The CEC said the hearing of a disqualification petition against Imran Khan at the Supreme Court (SC) would affect proceedings of a separate but similar case at the ECP. The petitions seeking the disqualification of Imran Khan and PTI leader Jahangir Tareen over the non-disclosure of assets, their ownership of offshore companies and for collecting party funds through R20;prohibited sources” are currently being heard in both the SC and the ECP. The SC is hearing a plea filed by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi seeking disqualification of Imran Khan and PTI General Secretary Jehangir Tareen, over “non-disclosure of assets.
